THE LOCUST GROUP CONDUCTS ORGANIZATIONAL AND VISITOR EXPERIENCE RESEARCH AT CUYAHOGA VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
Research initiative gathered employee, board, stakeholder, and visitor perspectives to inform strategies for a more inclusive park experience
BRECKSVILLE, Ohio — The Locust Group conducted a comprehensive research and organizational assessment initiative focused on workplace culture, stakeholder perspectives, inclusion, and the visitor experience within Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
The project gathered feedback from employees, board members, organizational stakeholders, and park visitors to develop a multidimensional understanding of how people experienced the organization and the park.
The Locust Group designed research instruments, collected quantitative and qualitative information, analyzed organizational and visitor perspectives, and translated the findings into strategic recommendations for leadership.
“Organizations cannot improve the experiences of their employees, partners, or visitors without first developing a clear understanding of those experiences,” said Dr. Jonathan Locust Jr., principal of The Locust Group. “This project created a structured way for multiple stakeholder groups to be heard and for their perspectives to inform organizational decisions.”
The research examined organizational climate, communication, representation, accessibility, inclusion, and opportunities to strengthen engagement across park operations and public-facing experiences.
By gathering information from internal and external stakeholders, the assessment allowed leadership to examine both organizational culture and the ways visitors experienced the park.
The Locust Group presented the findings and recommendations in a format designed to help organizational leaders identify priorities, consider potential improvements, and make informed decisions about future strategies.
“Public institutions serve communities with a wide range of backgrounds, expectations, and needs,” Locust said. “Research helps leaders move beyond assumptions and understand where experiences converge, where they differ, and where focused action can have the greatest effect.”
The project demonstrated The Locust Group’s capabilities in federal-sector research, survey design, organizational assessment, stakeholder engagement, qualitative research, data analysis, and strategic consulting.
